What rhinoplasty can change
Most rhinoplasty addresses one or two specific concerns rather than rebuilding the whole nose. At your consultation Mr Paun will tell you which of these apply to you — and which don't.
Dorsal hump
Reducing or removing a bump on the bridge for a smoother profile.
Tip refinement
Reshaping a bulbous, drooping, over-projected or asymmetric tip.
Crooked or twisted nose
Straightening the bridge and tip so the nose sits centrally.
Bridge width
Narrowing — or, less often, building up — the bony bridge.
Nostril size & shape
Reducing wide or flaring nostrils for better balance.
Breathing problems
Correcting a deviated septum or narrow airway at the same time — see septorhinoplasty.
Unsatisfactory previous surgery
Refining an earlier result — see revision rhinoplasty.
Loss of nasal support
Rebuilding a collapsed or damaged nose — see nasal reconstruction.
Your rhinoplasty journey
- 1
Consultation — £275
A detailed examination of the inside and outside of your nose, an honest conversation about your goals, and 3D imaging of your potential result with Mr Paun.
- 2
Planning & quote
A bespoke surgical plan, routine pre-operative assessment, and a clear, all-in quote with finance options.
- 3
Surgery
Typically 1–3 hours under general anaesthetic in a fully accredited London hospital. Same-day discharge or one night for most patients.
- 4
Early recovery
A small splint on the nose for about a week; bruising and swelling around the eyes settle over 1–2 weeks, when most people return to work.
- 5
Final result
A visible improvement straight away, refining over 12–18 months as residual swelling resolves. Long-lasting and, in most cases, permanent.
Open or closed — and what it means
Rhinoplasty can be performed by a closed (entirely internal) approach, which leaves no visible scar, or an open approach, where a tiny incision across the columella — the strip of skin between the nostrils — gives the surgeon precise control and heals to become virtually invisible. Mr Paun chooses the approach that best fits what your nose needs, and explains it at your consultation.
Where the nose lacks support — common in revision and some primary cases — cartilage may be used from the septum or ear to create a stable, natural shape. If breathing is a problem, functional work can be done in the same operation (septorhinoplasty).

Rhinoplasty London — FAQs
What does rhinoplasty involve?
Rhinoplasty (a "nose job") reshapes the bone and cartilage of the nose to change its size or shape and, where needed, improve breathing. Mr Paun may reduce a dorsal hump, refine the tip, narrow the bridge or nostrils, straighten a crooked nose, or build up areas that lack support — all tailored to your face and goals.
How much does rhinoplasty cost in London?
It depends on the complexity of your procedure (primary vs revision, the work involved, anaesthetic and hospital fees). You receive an accurate quote after your consultation with Mr Paun, which is £275 and includes 3D imaging of your potential results. Flexible finance is available through Chrysalis Finance. See our rhinoplasty cost page for more detail.
How long does rhinoplasty take and is it done under general anaesthetic?
Surgery typically takes 1–3 hours under general anaesthetic in a fully accredited London hospital. Most patients go home the same day or after one night.
What is recovery like?
A small splint sits on the nose for about a week. Bruising and swelling around the eyes settle over 1–2 weeks, when most people return to work. The nose continues to refine for 12–18 months as residual swelling resolves.
Will there be a visible scar?
With the closed (internal) technique there are no visible scars. With the open technique, a tiny incision across the columella — the strip of skin between the nostrils — heals to become virtually invisible.
Where will my surgery and consultation take place?
Consultations are at 9 Harley Street or The Shard, London Bridge. Surgery is carried out at fully accredited private London hospitals.
